Superb deep inky blue rosettes of bladed Azurite cover an interesting layer of micro-botryoidal Malachite with various micro-spherical crystals scattered across the surface. This lovely small cabinet specimen is from the 4950 level in the NW extension of Morenci mine in the Copper Mountain District of Greenlee County, Arizona, USA. This is a gigantic open pit of over 2.1 x 1.2 km, together with underground workings, extracted a complex array of ores containing economic quantities of Cu-Mo-Au-Ag-Pb-Zn-U-Re and REEs long with Gypsum-Talc and Garnet. Amongst the microminerals on this beautiful specimen are probable Chrysocolla and Conichalcite. It is an outstanding specimen of Azurite.
