A splendid, good size cabinet specimen of translucent to gemmy purple Fluorite with Hydrocerussite-coated Galena crystals from the Hailstorm Pocket, Lady Annabella mine, Eastgate, Weardale, County Durham, England. The Fluorite forms as both equant and elongated prisms, commonly as interpenetrant twins and occasionally as single crystals covering a complexly layered ironstone-Fluorite veinstone matrix. The largest Fluorite prism measures to 2.6 cm while individual prisms range from a bright glassy lustre to a more matt vitreous to waxy lustre. The Hydrocerussite crystals form crude cuboctahedrons up to 3 cm across, of mottled and patchy light grey to creamy-off white. The Fluorite displays intense daylight fluorescence, especially in the larger twins and a uniform white lavender under LWUV.
