Two purple and mild sea green interpenetrant Fluorite twinned crystals dominant this fine cabinet specimen of Fluorite with Galena on a dense ironstone-limestone matrix from the Purple Rain Pocket in Lady Annabella mine, Eastgate, Weardale, County Durham, England. These are surrounded by many, much smaller twined Fluorites and at one end sit two intergrown modified cuboctahedral Galena crystals, each to about 3 cm diameter. The Fluorite forms elongated cubic crystals up to 2.8 cm on edge, of deep rich blackberry purple with good to bright daylight fluorescence. The prisms are translucent to semi-transparent with occasional gemmy zones. In the latter can be seen as alternating pale purple and sea green zoning, grading to delicate green cores. Under LWUV the Fluorite fluoresces bright lavender.
