An excellent cabinet specimen of entirely single cubic Fluorite crystals of translucent blackberry purple, with often intense blackberry gemmy corners. The Fluorite covers a matrix of rusty brown banded ironstone intermixed with peppermint sea green Fluorite. The base and some hidden faces have been sawn flat to form a level base, the latter not apparent when displayed. This lovely specimen is from the Purple Rain Pocket in Lady Annabella mine, Eastgate, Weardale, County Durham, England. The largest Fluorite prism measures 3.1 cm on its longest edge. Where some prisms become gemmy, examination under a x5 loupe reveals delicate alternating colour zoning around the faces of delicate lilac and sea green. The gemmy corners display an intense blackberry daylight fluorescence and under LWUV fluoresces uniform bright lavender white.
