Fluorite with Galena

ID: CC21984
If you are searching for that Purple Rain Pocket specimen which is quite unique, then look no further!  This remarkable large cabinet specimen of Fluorite and Galena is formed over a hidden stalactite of ironstone whose structure can be seen in the end of the specimen.  The stalactite core is completely circular with a central round hollow core, 7 mm in diameter, looking as if it has been drilled out! Over and around this matrix it is completely overgrown with single and interpenetrant twinned crystals of purple Fluorite, typically between say, 0.5 to 1 cm on edge, but up to 2 cm.  On one side, three magnificent Galena crystals sit on top of the Fluorite, of respective maximum diameters 3, 4 and 4.9 cm.  The Galena forms modified, somewhat rounded cuboctahedrons of mainly matt lead grey and, occasionally, bright metallic silver.  Mined during the summer of 2021, the Fluorite exhibits mild to good daylight fluorescence and under LWUV is bright lavender white.  A superb and one-off cabinet Fluorite with Galena from the Purple Rain Pocket in Lady Annabella mine, Eastgate, Weardale, County Durham, England.
