An exceptional pale blue gemmy Baryte of museum quality and size from the Frizington mining district of west Cumbria, England. This really is a showstopping specimen composed almost entirely of wonderfully crystallised Baryte resting on a thin veneer of well crystallised creamy white Dolomite with a scattered overgrowth of small nail-head Calcite crystals. The Baryte forms an intergrown jumble of sharp, prismatic crystals with chisel pointed terminations, with almost all displaying a high degree of transparency and many gemmy zones. The largest crystal measures an impressive 8 x 4 x 1.3 cm and all display a splendid glassy lustre of polished glass. It’s a real beauty, what more can one say?
