A large miniature of classic German Rhodochrosite from the Wolf mine near the town of Herdorf in the Rhineland-Palatinate. The specimen is richly pervaded with groups of deep apricot orange, rice grain-shaped crystals averaging about 2 mm long lining vugs in a black to dark brown Goethite matrix. The matrix has more the appearance and characteristics of a fine-textured lava with a flat sawn base. This is a terrific specimen from this world renowned German location, most famous for its Rhodochrosite.
