Joséite is a rare bismuth-tellurium sulphide which occurred in the mineralised veins worked in Carrock mine. Situated in Carrock Fell, this was (and is) one of the most famous mines in the Caldbeck Fells of the English Lake District in Cumbria. This locality was once popular with mineral collectors but is now strictly off-limits. This large miniature is a typical example of Joséite from Carrock, displaying a 10 x 7 mm, thick silver curved blade and bright metallic lustre, half embedded in a milky Quartz greisenised veinstone matrix. This remarkable locality records an impressive 85 mineral species of which Joséite is one of its rarer. The specimen is mounted on a thin clear acrylic base.
