This superbly crystallised Native Copper is from Bogoslovsk in the Turinsk-Auerbakovsk ore field, Sverdlovsk Oblast, Russia. This old locality is now beneath a fully built-up housing area, a landscape providing no clues as to what mineral treasures have come from here. The Native Cooper in this small cabinet specimen appears at first glance to be hacky but is a rich mass of superb crystals of up to over 1 cm long. These pervade a creamy dense matrix of Dolomite and Calcite with many dull metallic blocks of what I think is Chalcocite. The Native Copper has a lovely chocolatey-reddish-copper patina which gives a fabulous appearance to the excellent coverage of complex crystals.
