A purple Fluorite crystal which can only be described as a thing of beauty, from Xia Yang mine close to Xia Yang city in Fujian Province, China.  This locality is in the far south eastern region of China, in the general direction of the Philippines.  This small cabinet specimen has been cleaved from surrounding Fluorite while in-situ, resulting in a 5 cm broad dodecahedral gemmy Fluorite crystal attached around its base to fragments of adjacent crystals.  Its colour is exceptional, there is no other word for this!  Overall it is purple with intense lilac descending into a near-electric, inky blue interior.  No matter if in transmitted or reflected light, is simply breath-taking.  A small cluster of colourless gemmy Quartz crystals sit at one side and one of the faces of the main crystal is pitted with small shards of milky white Quartz.  A captivating Fluorite from Xia Yang mine.
