Beryl var. Emerald

ID: CC28779
This superb small cabinet specimen of numerous fine Emerald crystals on and in a dark matrix of hard mica schist is from the major deposit discovered in the 1960s at Carnaíba in Pindobaçu, Bahia, Brazil.  This is certainly the largest Emerald deposit in Brazil and possibly the world.  Deep leafy-emerald green crystals cut through and cover the display face of the Quartz and black Mica-rich matrix with crystals of up to 5 cm long and 0.4 cm diameter.  Other shorter crystals may reach 0.9 cm diameter.  The Emerald is translucent with an opaque core and all crystals have a bright glassy lustre.  This is a most attractive display piece and is modestly priced for such a sought-after gemstone with an excellent coverage of fine crystals.
