This well crystallised large miniature Lemoynite is from one of the world’s most iconic mineral localities, that at Mont Saint-Hilaire on the outskirts of Montréal in Québec, Canada.  Although there have been variously named quarries on the hillside, they are all now amalgamated into the Poudrette quarry and this is by far the best and most accurate way to label this specimen, if you so wish.  Lemoynite, named for Charles Le Moyne, an early French pioneer who emigrated to Canada in 1641, Mont Saint Hilaire is its type locality.  The Lemoynite forms spherical acicular sprays which, when broken open, nicely display the internal radial structure. The crystals are pure white grading to creamy tan terminations and occur richly distributed throughout an Albite and Aegirine matrix.
