A superb small cabinet specimen of well crystallised Brochantite from Red Gill mine, close to the confluence of Red Gill and Swinburn Gill and a little to the north west of Roughton Gill head in the Caldbeck fells of Cumbria, England. This beautiful specimen originates from the collection of Dr T.B. Wilson (1807-1864), founder of the Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences and is accompanied with his label (No. 5735). An iron-rich, dark rusty coloured Quartz veinstone rich in Malachite and containing minor Baryte, displays a roughly 4 x 2 cm triangular area of small, bright, dark emerald green Brochantite crystals. It also comes with an old Crystal Classics/Kristalle label and a highly detailed collector’s label. A great specimen with a great history.
