Jakub’s Pocket was found in Lady Annabella mine during the summer of 2021 and is named for Jakub Sauermann its discoverer. The pocket was only about the size of a football, some eight to nine inches across yet yielded a magnificent suite of blue and yellow Fluorite crystals, occasionally with zones of green. This small cabinet specimen is a beautiful example and displays fabulous colour zoning, as is so well captured in the accompanying photographs. Essentially the cubic crystals have clouded lemon yellow prism centres with outer gemmy zones of sky and teal blue. This example also has a distinct outer leaf green shell when studied. The larger prisms form as elongated cuboids, the longest measuring 2.8 cm, with razor-sharp edges and corners and a lustre which varies from matt to glassy. Under LWUV the Fluorite fluoresces a uniform bright lilac. Without doubt, a gorgeous blue, yellow and green Fluorite from this new specimen recovery operation at Eastgate, Weardale, County Durham, England.
