Fluorite on Quartz

A slightly distorted, deep leaf green Fluorite cube to 1.5 cm on its longest edge, sits on a thin bed of lightly iron-stained drusy Quartz adjacent to several smaller Fluorite crystals. The Quartz layer overgrows pale, smoky olive green Fluorite. A single, highly corroded Galena crystal with a matt black patina nestles next to the Fluorite. An attractive miniature from the Naughty Gnome Pocket in Diana Maria mine, Frosterley, Weardale, County Durham, England. The Fluorite exhibits mild daylight fluorescence and under LWUV fluoresces bright lilac white.
