Schorl Tourmaline

Many farms throughout Namibia always intrigue me as they conjure an image of, say, ploughing a field or plating a crop and, Hey Presto, there’s another fabulous Schorl or gemstone out of the ground. I know really its not like that, but one can but dream! Davib Ost Farm 61 at Karibib in the Erongo Region is one of these enigmatic localities and my word, if you were to find this cabinet specimen of lustrous Schorl Tourmaline crystals, well, you’d be pretty chuffed, putting it mildly. Schorl from these locations around Erongo makes magnificent specimens. Equant lustrous, jet black Schorl crystals to in excess of 4 cm across intergrow to form a glistening, reflective crystalised cluster made all the more appealing by their complex, stepped faces. A thing of beauty.
