This showy and quite splendid cabinet specimen of Tetrahedrite is most likely from the actual Casapalca mine rather than any of the nearby localities. The accompanying label records Casapalca, Yauli, Peru; Casapalca being the nearest localised source. It is a magnificent specimen of well crystallised Tetrahedrite covering a matrix of massive Tetrahedrite and granular golden Pyrite crystals which form sub-millimetre size cubes. Many of the Tetrahedrite crystals measure to around 4 cm across and gunmetal silver-grey with a brilliant reflective metallic lustre. Those crystals which are truncated at their tip display a natural pinacoid face and are not cleaved as might be first thought. A magnificent Tetrahedrite from Casapalca.
