This small cabinet specimen is a terrific example of what is termed Star Muscovite, a habit of Muscovite mica forming star-shaped crystals. Such clusters sit on crisp, snow-white blades of Albite feldspar, of the variety Cleavelandite. The locality is recorded as Minas Gerais, Brazil. Although we cannot be certain, good specimens such as this are known to originate from the pegmatites of the Jenipapo district. The dominant star-burst measures overall 2.9 x 2.0 x 1.5 cm, sitting at the crest of the Cleavelandite. It’s a pretty and showy specimen.
