A rare and certainly very seldom encountered crystal of the potassium-calcium sulphate Görgeyite from the Inder B Deposit and Salt Dome at Atyrau (Gur'yev) in Atyrau Province, Kazakhstan. Free of matrix, this impressive 8.7 x 7.4 cm crystal forms a pseudohexagonal plate, 1.2 cm thick across the central region (including the central edges) which then tapers down at one end to a series of various sized saw-tooth terminations. The crystal is a mottled and patchy mixture of translucent to opaque Görgeyite in a multitude of shades between biscuit tan and murky-cream. A second, 1 mm thick Görgeyite blade branches out from the main crystal mid-way down. A fine example of this rare sulphate.
