The Okorusu mine in Namibia has been worked since about 1920 and although now having recorded almost forty different species, is best known for its magnificent Fluorite. This cabinet specimen is an intergrown mass of sea-green cubic crystals of between 1.5 and 2.8 cm on edge. The odd corner is slightly chipped but the majority are complete and pristine. Where some corners may at first appear to be cleaved, they are in fact a paler colour; a colour confined to the corners, controlled by internal cleavage planes. Viewed close-up with a loupe, the edges are lemon yellow with a fine internal purple zone before giving way to the overall sea green colour; however, the yellow and purple are invisible when viewed as an entire specimen. The Fluorite fluoresces mid-purple-white under LWUV.
