This excellent small cabinet specimen of gemmy to semi-transparent yellow Baryte is from the SSX mine, a locality, to my knowledge, that we have never featured before now. SSX is for ‘South Saval Extension’, a mine located within the Pattani Springs gold deposit in Elko County, Nevada, USA. The lustrous, thick tabular Baryte crystals are developed to around 2.5 cm and their eye-catching delicate lemon contrasts superbly against a black vuggy basalt matrix; a matrix with the appearance and texture of lava. It is exceptional value at only $250, damage-free and superbly aesthetic.
