Fluorite on Hematite
ID:
CC32398
A stunning miniature of gemmy, deep inky blue Fluorite crystals on a matrix of massive Hematite from Ullcoats mine by the town of Egremont in Cumbria, England. The cubic crystals vary between 4 and 7 mm on edge and all have a bright, glassy lustre. This specimen most likely originates from within Florence mine, but in later years the two adjacent mines became connected underground. Florence ore was trammed underground to Ullcoats and brought to surface here, hence labelled as Ullcoats. Such intensely vibrant blue Fluorite specimens are highly sought and this is a beautiful and captivating example. It truly is a great colour.
