Mottramite

This lovely large miniature of pistachio green Mottramite is from the Tsumeb mine in the Oshikoto Region of Namibia.  It is a terrific branching dendritic example, like those I remember more widely available during the late 1980s.  The specimen is entirely composed of dendritic Mottramite, so creating a highly porous specimen of inter connected and intergrown crystallised branches.  Individual, opaque Mottramite crystals with a glassy lustre join to form the branching structures, so characteristic of old material from Tsumeb.  A super example of this anhydrous vanadate hydroxide.
