A fine, double terminated Quartz crystal which exhibits several interesting features, from the 400 ft Level in South Crofty mine, Pool, Redruth in Cornwall, England.  Three of the six prism faces are preferentially dusted with a pervasive coating of micro-crystalline, buff-coloured Quartz while the opposite faces are slightly smoky with a hint of Amethystine purple.  These face are covered in intricate growth patterns, some resembling cactus-Quartz and some as epitaxially aligned, flattened crystals.  A terrific South Crofty Quartz from the Mike Brooke collection and ex. John Fisk.
