A classic specimen of well-developed rhombic, delicate lilac pink Calcite crystals to 4 cm on edge coated in a thin translucent dusting of drusy Quartz from Snailbeach mine, close to Shelve in Shropshire, England. Cubic crystals of metallic silvery Galena up to 3.9 cm on edge sit at each end of the specimen, these also coated in drusy Quartz. Occasional deep brown Sphalerite crystals; rare micro-crystals of Chalcopyrite and hemispheres of light metallic yellow Pyrite are clustered and lightly scattered over the specimen. This specimen is very characteristic of the Snailbeach mines due to its pink colour and the associated minerals. Good Snailbeach specimens are very rarely seen for sale and are probably just as rare in private collections of British minerals.
