An interesting combination of Baryte and Chalcopyrite from Mount Wellington mine near the village of Cusgarne in Gwennap, Cornwall. Translucent light grey, elongated prismatic Baryte crystals to 1 cm form stacked clusters on a matrix of tarnished Chalcopyrite. The Chalcopyrite appears as if brecciated and subsequently cemented by an earthy, off-cream granular matrix. The Chalcopyrite is most probably separate Chalcopyrite crystals protruding from a more massive Chalcopyrite matrix beneath the creamy infilling. This specimen comes with Mike Brooke and Mike Merry labels. Not documented is a small label glued to the specimen, with a smudged catalogue number and initials D.A. This is a Don Alderson label, known to most British collectors through his company, Isis Minerals. Don was a great Baryte collector and this was part of his collection. He very sadly passed away in October 2013.
