Yet another quite different and splendid example of Siderite with fine Quartz crystals from Tincroft mine in Illogan, Cornwall, England. The district of Illogan lay between Camborne and Redruth with Tincroft mine a little to the west of Carn Brea; a prominent elongated granite hill which dominates this entire district. The Tincroft engine houses sit immediately adjacent to the main London-Penzance railway. Covering a matrix of rusty red and blacked ferruginous Quartz, small lenticular translucent grey Siderite crystals to a few millimetres form a rich drusy coating over terminated Quartz crystals to about 1 cm tall. The other half of the display face is dominated by much larger Quartz crystals coloured dull apricot orange by included Hematite. This small cabinet specimen is ex. the Mike Brooke Collection and is accompanied by his label.
