Burgham mine (also spelt Burgam) is close to the Shropshire village of Stiperstones and the Stiperstones National Nature Reserve in the English Midlands. It is a mine we rarely see specimens from as only a limited range of species were ever produced. This large cabinet specimen of Pyromorphite is magnificent, with perfectly formed and completely undamaged micro-crystals almost completely covering a 10 x 9 cm area of milky Quartz veinstone. The crystals are best studied under low magnification. They occur as spiky acicular clusters of opaque mossy green and form a moss-like surface of remarkably uniform colour. It’s a wonderful large display specimen of superbly crystallised Pyromorphite from Burgham mine in Shropshire; formerly part of the Mike Brooke Collection.
