Dean quarry, now inactive, extracted aggregate directly adjacent to the coast on the east side of the Lizard peninsula, close to the village of St. Keverne. It is a quarry well-known for its fine zeolite minerals and this small cabinet specimen is a beautiful and remarkably clean example. Acicular crystals of Natrolite up to 2.5 cm long densely cover a thin plate of Calcite, covered in 1 to 2 mm gemmy Calcite crystals. The Natrolite forms opaque, milky white crystals which often become colourless and quite gemmy towards their terminations. The specimen is undamaged and snow white; a lovely example from Dean quarry and accompanied by the previous collector’s label.
