A fine specimen of Hematite-included Calcite from Stank mine, just east of Barrow-in-Furness in southwest Cumbria.  Until country boundary changes in 1974, Stank mine was historically part of Lancashire. Lustrous crystals of Calcite measuring to 6 cm are preferentially included in one face by pinkish-orange finely disseminated Hematite. The crystals of Calcite also show some parallel growth.  Please note two of the crystal terminations are cleaved, so slightly truncating the tips, yet the specimen remains aesthetic and a splendid example from Stank.  It is accompanied by four old labels, one ex. the Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and one from Wright’s Rock Shop, Arkansas.
