Rhodochrosite

ID: CC4608
A rich tight group of gemmy red-pink Rhodochrosite crystals from the famous N'Chwaning 1 mine in the Kalahari Manganese Field of central-northern South Africa.  Perhaps a better description of colour is that of crushed strawberries, they are really quite beautiful.  The specimen bristles with many well-formed scalenohedral crystals of Rhodochrosite on a matrix of grey-black manganese oxides. Several of the Rhodochrosite crystals are coated by a thin veneer of colourless sugary Quartz micro-crystals constrained adjacent to around the tips of the prisms.  An outstanding miniature of richly crystallised Rhodochrosite from N'Chwaning 1 mine by the town of Kuruman.
