A rich sky to sapphire blue vein specimen of the rare mineral Kröhnkite which has formed on both sides of a thin veinlet of Goethite from the type locality at Chuquicamata mine in Chile. Kröhnkite is a rare, hydrated sodium-copper sulphate and is from Chuquicamata, the world's largest open-pit copper mine which exploits a porphyry copper deposit. This rich and lovely large miniature is from the Philadelphia Academy Collection but does not have an accompanying label.
