Lustrous prismatic crystals of Smithsonite from the Berg Aukas mine, Namibia, measuring to 1.9 cm form an open group on a Dolomite matrix. The crystals range from translucent to near-gemmy golden-tan and around the base, much smaller colourless rhombohedral crystals occur.  The specimen clearly shows the gradual transformation from near-perfect small rhombohedral crystals to their tall, extended, and distorted form, whereby the characteristic rhombohedral faces form each termination of the tall, elongated crystals.  An excellent Smithsonite from the famous Berg Aukas mine; one which would greatly compliment any fine Descloizite collection from this same locality.
