An uncommon specimen of Chywoon Quarry Fluorapatite, these only come out of the location very infrequently, most specimens ending up in the crusher. Hexagonal crystals of lustrous zoned blue-colourless Fluorapatite measure to 6mm. Displaying classic pinacoid terminations with bevel edges. The reverse of the specimen is covered in crystals of Fluorapatite measuring to 2mm+. Fluorapatite has formed on a matrix of inter grown tabular creamy white Albite, with a partial coating of yellow Muscovite (variety Gilbertite). Two labels that come with the specimen state the presence of Columbite, but we could not see any of this mineral on the specimen. The only other mineral in association is black spots of Fe-Mn oxides under magnification. A fine Fluorapatite specimen from the Quarry.
