Calcite var. Cobaltoan with Kolwezite
ID:
CC5763
Translucent to gemmy, bright flamingo-pink scalenohedral crystals of Cobaltoan Calcite are richly intergrown from the Mashamba West mine at Kolwezi, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. A green-grey rounded mound of Kolwezite, a rare copper cobalt carbonate hydroxide, nestles between the Calcite crystals. Please note that not all the Cobaltoan Calcite crystals are complete, with the odd, cleaved face showing, and this is reflected in the price. This certainly does not detract from the aesthetic and remains a beautiful specimen.
