Epidote

Classic thick tabular crystals of deep olive-green Epidote from Green Monster Mountain on Prince of Wales Island in Alaska.  Inter grown crystals of Epidote measure to 3.2 cm, with prismatic crystals of translucent white-colourless Quartz.  The Epidote crystals appear almost black in reflected light and when backlit are opaque with a rich apple-green rim around the edges where the thickness is sufficiently thin as to transmit light.  A second generation of micro, transparent to translucent bright apple-green Epidote has been deposited over the specimens, dusting the surfaces with pinpoint sparkling reflections.  A super small miniature Epidote with Quartz from this iconic locality.
