A very rich small cabinet specimen of deep ruby red Cinnabar crystals, abundantly intergrown across the display face and just as rich on the reverse side!  From the Nikitovka Hg Deposit in the far east of the Ukraine, veins of Cinnabar also run through the milky white Quartz matrix.  Associated with the Cinnabar, mercury sulphide (HgS), on the reverse side are rare metallic grey acicular crystals of Stibnite.  Cinnabar is a mineral for which you should always wash your hands after handling.  Mercury is a toxic metal, but handed with respect and common sense, presents no risk.  An excellent and rich specimen of well crystallised Cinnabar from the Ukraine.
