A particularly fine specimen of mustard-lime-green Pyromorphite from Barstow's Cut, also known as Barstow’s Trench, on the Roughton Gill South Lode in the Caldbeck Fells.  This specimen was probably collected in the late 1970s by Dick Barstow.  Crystals of Pyromorphite measuring to 1.6 cm of a light yellow-limey-green to yellowish pistachio-green cover the display face of this good-sized cabinet specimen with a hidden milky-Quartz matrix.  Although collecting in Roughton Gill is now strictly forbidden, the remains of the skewed W-shaped trench can still be seen on the steep hillside above Mexico mine.  This excellent display specimen comes with a small card label, ex. the William (Bill) Creighton Collection.  Many British collectors, I included, have spent many a happy day with Bill either at Grove House Gallery in Keswick or in his mineral museum at Cockermouth, both in the English Lake District.
