Rhodochrosite

ID: CC6285
A fine gemmy cherry-red group of sub-parallel, steeply angled pyramidal Rhodochrosite crystals from N'Chwaning II mine in the Kalahari Manganese Field of South Africa. Terminated crystals of Rhodochrosite measure to 2.4 cm from the crystallized base of the specimen and in transmitted light their tips take on a pinkish-orange hue. Each crystal has a naturally truncated, flat termination and where the prism faces have a bright glassy lustre, the pinacoids are micro-stippled and matt. This terrific gemmy Rhodochrosite is mounted on a small clear acrylic base.
