A very characteristic and fine specimen of Chalcopyrite crystals with long prismatic crystals of Quartz from the St. Agnes mining area in Cornwall. Intergrown single and twinned crystals of metallic golden-brassy Chalcopyrite measure to 1.8 cm, some with a metallic blueish patina having formed on crystals of Quartz which measure to 5 cm tall. The Quartz crystals are tall yet quite thickly set and are mainly translucent milky white grading to slightly clearer terminations. Around the base of the Quartz crystals and Chalcopyrite is grey-green Chlorite and rare micro-crystals of light metallic yellow Pyrite. A truly classic specimen from the St. Agnes mines which, despite its relatively simple mineralogy, exudes this classic small mining district which overlooks the Atlantic.
