Sphalerite on Arsenopyrite

$500.00   €474  £400.00 approx.

This specimen is priced in US dollars, all other prices are approximate.

ID: CC6685
An excellent intergrown group of lustrous black Sphalerite crystals measuring overall to 3.5 cm, on a metallic silver bed of Arsenopyrite crystals with buttercream patches of crystallised Dolomite. From the Trepča mining complex in Kosovska Mitrovica, Kosovo, the more you examine this lovely miniature, the more beautiful it appears. It is all too easy to become blasé about relatively common species like Sphalerite and Arsenopyrite and it sometimes requires a specimen like this as a reminder to what fabulous minerals they really are.
