An aesthetic small miniature of intergrown, lustrous Pyromorphite crystals from the classic location of Wheal Alfred at Phillack, east of the coastal town of Hayle in Cornwall. The Pyromorphite displays two habits: yellow stout crystals with abundant parallel growth and as spiky greenish yellow crystals on a rusty-orange iron oxide/Quartz matrix. Many of the stout crystals grade from translucent, cloudy cream yellow terminating in bright, gemmy acid lemon yellow. Wheal Alfred is probably Cornwall’s most famous locality for Pyromorphite and this specimen is accompanied with a well known British collector’s label.
