An excellent and well-formed single hexagonal prismatic Emerald crystal measuring 1.5 cm by 3 mm diameter, set in a druse of Calcite crystals with further crystal sections of Emerald on the specimen.  Emerald is the green variety of Beryl and these crystals are a rich and intensely-coloured gemmy-translucent emerald green with neon-green internal reflections.  The crystals have a reasonably bright glassy lustre with smooth, yet contradictory, slightly rough-looking surfaces.  The Calcite crystals are typically 5 to 8 mm but can exceed 1.3 cm, and mostly cover a black shale matrix, characteristic within the Mun. de Muzo Emerald deposits of Colombia.  A fine Emerald specimen of great colour and from one of the world’s most famous Emerald localities.
