Smithsonite

A striking small cabinet specimen of light candyfloss pink botryoidal Smithsonite on a creamy Smithsonite matrix from Choix, Mexico. This Mexican locality is famous for its magnificent Smithsonites which occur in many different colours.  Although this specimen is essentially opaque, the surface of the pink Smithsonite displays a subtle translucency and beneath low magnification is seen to have a beautiful micro-frosted texture and silky lustre.  A terrific pink Smithsonite from the Choix Municipality.
