A part of a large twinned Cassiterite crystal displaying the twining to advantage by prominent re-entrant crystal faces across the crest of the specimen. The twin, from HornĂ­ Slavkov in the Karlovy Vary Region of Bohemia, Czech Republic, measures 6.3 cm tall, is jet black and has a superb metallic mirror-like lustre. Examined close-up or under low magnification, the Cassiterite is dark clove brown, visible in rare translucent patches amongst its prevailing opaqueness. This is a majestic twinned Cassiterite crystal, beautifully tactile with its smooth slippery surfaces and one which will enhance any collection it next finds itself in!
