A part of a large twinned Cassiterite crystal displaying the twining to advantage by prominent re-entrant crystal faces across the crest of the specimen. The twin, from Horní Slavkov in the Karlovy Vary Region of Bohemia, Czech Republic, measures 6.3 cm tall, is jet black and has a superb metallic mirror-like lustre. Examined close-up or under low magnification, the Cassiterite is dark clove brown, visible in rare translucent patches amongst its prevailing opaqueness. This is a majestic twinned Cassiterite crystal, beautifully tactile with its smooth slippery surfaces and one which will enhance any collection it next finds itself in!
