A few dozen, creamy-pale lemon yellow crystalline balls of Mimetite measuring between 3 and 4 mm are aggregated and scattered over a surface of colourless to grey, drusy Quartz crystals with some patches of red-brown Goethite. These encrust a rectangular plate of massive vein Quartz matrix. This fascinating small cabinet specimen is from the PrĂbram mining district of Central Bohemia in the Czech Republic. Examined close-up, the Mimetite forms doughnut-shaped rings (toroidal, multiply-stacked microcrystals), displaying a central hole; an essential feature of a proper doughnut. Sadly, these are not filled with jam and cream! A delightful Mimetite from PrĂbram.
