A beautiful cabinet specimen of translucent to transparent interpenetrant Fluorite twins of deep blackberry purple with many grading towards a white frosted face centre.  This covers a matrix of rusty, mid chocolate brown ironstone.  Around the base and between the matrix and roots of the crystals is a thin band of pale sea green Fluorite, the lower parts of the purple display prisms.  This specimen is from the Purple Rain Pocket in Lady Annabella mine, Eastgate, Weardale, County Durham, England and was mined in the early summer of 2021.  The largest prism measures to 2.5 cm on edge.  The prisms vary from a bright glassy lustre with mirror-smooth surfaces to naturally etched and pitted matt surfaces.  The Fluorite, especially the larger twins, display excellent daylight fluorescence and under LWUV all the Fluorite fluoresces bright lilac to lavender white.
