Wow! Certainly, a monster specimen from the Purple Rain Pocket in Lady Annabella mine, Eastgate, Weardale, County Durham, England, of a large interpenetrant Fluorite twin surrounded by a rich bed of modified cubic Galena crystals. The elongated twinned Fluorite crystals measure to 3.5 cm on their long axis and around these are several single cubic Fluorites measuring between 1.4 and 2.4 cm. The twinned crystal varies in its translucency, becoming transparent in parts with an iridescent play of colours. The Galena crystals form as equant to semi-rectangular, complexly modified cuboctahedrons, principally of matt lead grey, but often speckled with bright metallic silver patches. Mined during the summer of 2021, the Fluorite exhibits good daylight fluorescence and under LWUV is intense purple with bright lavender white edges.
