A rare specimen of Phosphosiderite from the Kreuzberg exposure (Rose quartz cliff) in Bavaria, Germany. The Quartz cliff is actually almost in the centre of Pleystein and is the remnant core of a now eroded phosphate pegmatite. Needless to say, collecting is now totally banned. Gemmy-translucent crystals measuring to around 2 mm of purple pink Phosphosiderite liberally line numerous cavities in the Quartz-rock matrix. An old label glued to the specimen bears the name Metastrengite, an old name for this species. The specimen comes with a Ralph E. Merrill (1917-2001) Collection label.
