A most unusual small cabinet specimen of well-formed colourless Calcite crystals dusted with a preferential coating of Dioptase and Calcite included with Dioptase from the Tsumeb mine in Namibia. Individual Calcite rhombs average 1 to 1.3 cm on their longest edge and are translucent colourless to creamy white. This plate of crystals has sat vertically in a cavity wall allowing solutions to preferentially deposit sucrosic Calcite crystals tinted turquoise by finely disseminated Dioptase. This has been followed by a deposition of 1 to 2 mm emerald green Dioptase crystals with one Dioptase of 4 mm across present. An interesting specimen which displays nicely when stood vertically to simulate its “way-up” position when in-situ.
